Scam Alert

While HolidayStaying.com verifies manually all owner accounts to prevent any kind of fraud or scam attempt, it’s always useful to be extra careful when you notice an unusual holiday home listing or rental offer. Here are some helpful tips on scam and fraud prevention:

-It’s useful to call the owner/manager by phone. While email is fast and easy as a method of communication, direct phone conversation with the holiday home owner/manager is always the best way to establish a more personal connection. And it’s much easier to detect if something is “wrong” over the phone.

-Read the holiday home reviews available on HolidayStaying.com. It’s a very helpful to read other people’s experience with the listed holiday home and the owner. Usually the more positive feedback you have, the better the holiday home experience will be for you.

-Always sign a rental agreement/contract with the owner before booking the holiday home. This is very important if you wish to have legal and financial protection. The contract should address terms & conditions of the booking, cancelation policy, refunds, deposits, check –in and check-out hours, payment methods… For your personal protection, HolidayStaying.com suggests always insisting on signing a booking contract/agreement with the holiday home owner/manager.

-Choose a secure method of payment. What we do not recommend are the money transfer services like Western Union and MoneyGram. What we do suggest are credit cards, PayPal or personal checks. Do not hesitate to ask for detailed information from the owner/manager regarding payments. If you think the requested payment method is suspicious, please contact us right away!

-Google is your friend! Try searching for the owner’s name, telephone number, holiday home name for additional references and information on the internet. Use Google Maps to check the location/street and number of the holiday home. Ask the owner/manager for additional instructions and clarification.

-If you notice a suspicious holiday home advert on our website, or you believe the owner is trying to scam you, please contact us right away. HolidayStaying.com has zero tolerance for any illegal activities or fraud attempts. Your user experience, financial and personal safety is our top concern!
