I've received a weird enquiry - is it a scam?
While the large majority of all enquiries received via HolidayStaying.com are genuine, you should still be very careful when dealing with any contact over the internet. There are many scammers browsing the internet, looking for the next victim. We’re doing our best to protect you against such attempts, but here are some tips to help you identify a potential scammer!-Often the scammer will send you a check with too much money and ask you to refund the difference. This is the most often scam.
-Avoid using money transferring services like: Western Union, BidPay, MoneyGram….
-Never share any personal information with the renter that is not relevant to the rent process.
-Watch out for emails written in bad English offering you a better price than you requested. Often these emails will be sent by a “general” or a “doctor” from African countries. Be sure to not confuse these emails with genuine renting requests written by people with the lack of language knowledge.
-Sometimes the renter will give you a telephone number and ask you to call him/her to arrange everything. Always double check the dialing country code and avoid any suspicious telephone number structure.
-The scammers could pretend they are working for HolidayStaying.com and request your password and username because of a suspicious reason. We never do that! Always check the address of the email (we send our emails via @holidaystaying.com). If you’re not sure if the email is genuine please feel free to contact us…
If you suspect a booking enquiry you received could be scam, please contact us a soon as possible.
